About Ballinluig Croft
Ballinluig Croft has been in use since before the Battle of Culloden and is still a working croft today. There is a small mixed herd of 16 breeding beef cows and a mixed flock of sheep with the native Scottish Blackface and other crosses and rare breeds. The owner is passionate about the environment and has been in number of environmental schemes over the past 20 years which have included planting hedgerows and trees.
And if you’re interested in spotting wildlife, you won’t be disappointed. From lapwing, oystercatcher and curlew in the Spring, Barn Owl in the Summer, mountain hare in the Winter and Roe Deer and Partridges year round, you’ll get to experience the life of the countryside from the comfort of the croft house.
The renovation of the croft house was completed in Summer 2018 and was part funded by the Leader programme, a pot of money available to communities for rural development including business diversification.
